The Writing Our World® Certificate of Completion: what it is and how to earn it
When you buy Writing Our World®, you are buying a curriculum. You are also buying professional learning. By the end, you will know how to teach the writing process the way the research says to teach it, without having to become an expert on every research framework first.
So we made it official. Here is the certificate, and here is how you earn it.

How to earn it
- Teach one student all the way through. Keep one free write from every substep. Those samples are your evidence.
- Write your own essays. Use the same Writing Our World® procedure your students use, and write one essay in response to each of these four books:
- The Knowledge Gap, by Natalie Wexler
- Bringing Words to Life, by Isabel Beck, Margaret McKeown, and Linda Kucan
- The Writing Rope™, by Joan Sedita
- The Writing Revolution®, by Judith Hochman and Natalie Wexler
- Send them to me. Email your student's free writes (first name only, or no name) and your four essays to [email protected]. I review them and send your certificate.
Pace yourself over a year
We recommend one book and a quarter of the substeps each quarter. Fall, winter, spring, summer. By next year you have a stronger student, four essays of your own, and a certificate.
Writing your own essays with the same steps changes how you teach them. You feel where it gets hard, and you know exactly what your student is up against.
